HIRAM, Ohio – December 17, 2025 – Hiram men's basketball couldn't hang on despite a tremendous first half on Wednesday evening, as the opposition roared back as part of a 68-61 loss to Heidelberg inside Price Gymnasium.
Liam Gopalakrishna scored all 14 of his points in the first half, igniting the Terriers crowd and giving Hiram a lead that grew as large as 21 points (42-21). Hiram shot over 50% from the field in the first half (17-33), which included a 13-2 advantage in second-chance points and 20-6 advantage in bench points.
Despite holding a 42-29 advantage at the intermission, Heidelberg roared back behind 47% shooting from the field and stellar defense throughout the final 20 minutes. The win gave the team its fifth road win of the season.
Collin Jones added a team-high 15 points for the entire game, while DJ Niles added 8 points and three blocks – including an emphatic block of a 7-foot center (Abba Lawal). Drovinsky Ulysse was also active throughout the night, tallying 11 points, three rebounds, two assists and one block.
Hiram will look to get back in the win column on Saturday, when it takes on Ohio Dominican at 2 p.m.
