PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania - November 20, 2025 – The Terriers took home a road win against the Redhawks on Thursday evening, earning their first win of the season by a final score of 71-66. Hiram dominated the painted area and played well throughout the second half to earn revenge against a team that had beaten the Terriers last season inside Price Gymnasium.
Hiram won the head-to-head battle in points in the paint, 36-16, finding high-percentage looks to give itself a chance in a game that had a single-digit margin just about the whole way through.
Sophomore
Isabella Caceres scored or assisted on 34 of the team's 71 points in the contest -- which also included five rebounds -- while
Sarah Seaman (17 points) and
McKinzie Wilhoite (career-high 12 points) also fueled the offense. It was also an efficient night for
Maya Joiner (4-5 FG) and
Ally Lyde (4-7 FG), who played integral roles in that paint point disparity.
Caceres wasted no time in entering the stat sheet, scoring a 3-pointer in the first five seconds of the game to set the tone. Hiram would eventually lead by as many as 12 points in the first quarter, but La Roche responded in front of its home crowd and made it a tie game heading into the intermission.
The efficiency of the Terriers proved to be the difference in the second half, as the team shot 55% (6-11) from the field in the third quarter and 64% (7-11) from the field in the fourth quarter. Caceres continued to facilitate with three of her six assists coming in the fourth quarter, while Joiner and Lyde cashed in on plenty of layups over the final 20 minutes.
To cap things off, Seaman secured the final point of the game with a made free throw and Lyde had a successful block to close out La Roche in the final seconds of the game.
Next up, the Terriers take a dive into conference play as they head to Greenville, PA to take on the Thiel Tomcats on Wednesday, December 3 at 5:30 p.m.
