Second-Half Surge Falls Just Short In 69-63 Loss To Albion

Terriers Display Resilience Despite Defeat

NOTRE DAME, Indiana – November 14, 2025 – Hiram women's basketball controlled the second half and outscored their opponents by 7 points during that span, but the resilient effort fell just short in a 69-63 loss to Albion to open The Inn at Saint Mary's Classic on Friday late afternoon.

Senior Sarah Seaman scored 11 of her 21 points in the second half, finishing the game with a career-high 21 points to lead the Terriers. Sophomore Isabella Caceres was also steady, totaling a team-high three 3-pointers and finishing with 14 points, while McKinzie Wilhoite and Maya Joiner both neared double-doubles (Joiner: 8 points, nine rebounds | Wilhoite: 9 points, eight rebounds).

Albion held the advantage throughout the first 20 minutes, outscoring the Terriers by 13 points (41-28) behind a balanced attack on offense. The Brits had four different student-athletes score in double-figures for the entire game.

Things swiftly swung in Hiram's favor in the second half, with the frontcourt players giving their team a 12-4 advantage in second-chance points in the third quarter. Joiner and Wilhoite continued to crash the boards, with Joiner capping the period with a steal and lay-up to make it a 50-45 deficit entering the fourth quarter.

Seaman was the catalyst at the start of the fourth period, scoring 9 of Hiram's first 10 points to carve out a 55-54 lead, which was her team's first lead of the contest. Albion answered with a 7-0 run of its own and eventually held its ground for the remainder of the game.

The Terriers will look to ride their second-half momentum into Saturday, when The Inn at Saint Mary's Classic resumes against the hosts, Saint Mary's, at 3 p.m.
