HIRAM, Ohio - October 11, 2025 - Hiram found the gradual improvement it needed for another conference win on Saturday afternoon, as the team responded from an early deficit with a commanding victory over Saint Vincent inside Price Gymnasium: 20-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-13.
It was a game for the statistics, with the Terriers recording season-highs in kills (64) and digs (135) in a match that was filled with lengthy points and remarkable efforts from both sides.
Maggie Riley had a team-high and career-high 18 kills; the junior now has a career-long three-match streak with at least 10+ kills. Megan Chiang added 17 kills and Sofia Smotek had 16 kills, while five different student-athletes recorded at least 24 digs: Kelly Hoffman (29), Brooke Fishback (28), Chiang (25), Smotek (24) and Riley (24). Hoffman was perhaps the most impactful player in the match, recording a career-high 51 assists to go along with that remarkable defense.
The Terriers wouldn't have pulled out the win without efficient attacking – the team had 11 attack errors in a first-set loss before decreasing that number to eight in the second set, six in the third set and two in the fourth set. Hiram had at least 15 kills in each of the final three sets, with the defense helping set up the offense throughout the turnaround.
Hiram had 10 runs of at least three consecutive points in its three set wins, shifting the momentum and regaining the form that has made it one of the best teams in the conference up to this point. The team punctuated the match by winning 8 of the last 9 points.
The Terriers will stay home and next host Westminster on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
