Hiram Makes Strides In Second Half Of Loss To Adrian

Terriers Fall At Home On Saturday

HIRAM, Ohio - September 14, 2024 - Despite a challenging matchup, the Hiram College Women's Soccer team showed resilience in a 4-0 defeat to Adrian College on Saturday late afternoon at Charles A. Henry Field.

Hiram's defense worked hard, especially in the second half, limiting Adrian to just one goal after a tough opening 45 minutes. Goalkeeper Emma Deffenbaugh was a standout performer, registering nine saves after facing relentless pressure from an Adrian offense that fired 19 shots.

Sydney Ladage and Caitlin Tucker led the way for Hiram offensively, each recording a shot on goal. Ladage, in particular, proved to be a key player in creating opportunities, with the team putting together a stronger second-half effort, generating five of their six total shots during that period.

Despite Adrian's early lead, Hiram never backed down. The Terriers rounded up their defense in the second half and fought hard to gain possession, earning three corner kicks and applying more offensive pressure. Bella Simmons and Kylianne Durachinsky contributed to Hiram's attacking efforts, with Durachinsky forcing Adrian's goalkeeper into a crucial save in the 71st minute.

While the scoreline doesn't reflect the Terriers' effort, the team's determination was evident throughout the match. The young squad continues to build experience, showing promise in creating more opportunities moving forward.

Next up, the Terriers will take on a future PAC opponent in Allegheny College in Meadville, PA on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
