HIRAM, Ohio - August 12, 2024 - Hiram Athletics officially announced the hiring of Lorenzo Araujo as the third head coach in Hiram STUNT history on Monday morning. Araujo previously served as the head cheer and dance coach at Bethany College (Lindsborg, KS) from 2019-23, where he won Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) Cheer Coach of the Year in 2020.

"Lorenzo brings a high level of experience to our STUNT program," Director of Athletics Scott Pohlman said. "We're excited to see where he leads our program after its run to the national championship this past season."

Araujo takes over for a 2024 Hiram STUNT team that beat Muskingum and George Fox University in the STUNT National Championship bracket. The Terriers eventually fell to top-ranked Alma College in the title game, but entered the offseason as the No. 2 overall team in Division III, with plenty to be excited about moving forward.

"I am beyond excited for this opportunity at Hiram College," Araujo said. "Coach (Brittany) Powell left some large shoes to fill for this number 2 team in the nation and I am honored to be the person entrusted with the leadership of this team."

Bethany College was the runner-up in the KCAC Cheerleading Competition in 2020 and totaled five All-KCAC Scholar Athletes and three First Team All-KCAC student-athletes under the leadership of Araujo.

Prior to Bethany, Araujo coached three seasons at Kansas Wesleyan University (Salina, KS). His tenure with the Coyotes was highlighted by a KCAC Cheerleading Championship in 2014.

Araujo graduated from Bethany College for his undergraduate studies.

Hiram STUNT will return to campus at the end of the month, where it will start the cheer season this fall and return to the mat for the STUNT season beginning in February.
