HIRAM, Ohio – April 23, 2024 – Hiram lost in its final home game of the season, 29-6, to Ohio Wesleyan on Tuesday evening at Henry Field.
The Terriers were led by
Noah Pilgram, who had team-highs in both goals (two) and assists (two). For the season, Pilgram now has 42 goals and 24 assists (66 points); it already marks the most points in a single season, and inches closer to Nick Rollason's program-record 44 goals in 2018.
Also scoring for Hiram was
Aaron Gardner,
Brett Johnson,
Levi Willett and
Kellen Wetz, which continues the team's trend of having a balanced offense. In its previous game against Wittenberg, the Terriers also had five different student-athletes score one goal in the game.
Ohio Wesleyan extended its win streak to eight straight games, which is the longest active win streak in the NCAC. With a 7-0 conference record, the Battling Bishops are tied with Denison (7-0) for first place, with the two teams set to square off on Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Terriers had their best performance in the third quarter, when they were outscored by just two goals (5-3). Wetz opened the scoring in the second half with a goal off a Pilgram assist before Willett (from
Ethan Bitong) and Pilgram (from
Brett Johnson) helped their team gain some momentum on the offensive end of the field.
Aidan Griffin recorded 20 saves in goal, which marked his second-most in a game this season (23 vs Wabash).
Hiram will finish the 2024 campaign on Saturday, when it travels to Gambier, Ohio to take on Kenyon College at 12 p.m. from McBride Field.
