Hiram Comes Up Short In Non-Conference Doubleheader

NEW WILMINGTON, Pennsylvania - March 16, 2024 - The Hiram softball team lost both games of its doubleheader on Saturday, 3-2 and 5-3, to Westminster College as part of a busy weekend of non-conference action.

Game 1 Recap

Hiram put forth a strong effort in the first game as the team outhit its opposition for the game (7-5), with RBIs coming courtesy of Darian Kanno (reached on fielding error) and Viviana Macias (single) in the first two innings. Angel Santellan and Kylie Perez each had a double in the game to highlight the rest of the offense.

Trinity Meza and Kanno shared the pitching duties in the game, with Kanno taking the loss despite working 3.2 innings of two-run ball. The Titans turned a 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 lead in the fifth inning to secure the win.

Game 2 Recap

Hiram fell to Westminster in the second game of the day despite erasing a 2-0 deficit on a two-run double by Perez in the fifth inning. Westminster scored three runs in the sixth inning, which was enough to close the game out.

Hiram had seven hits during the game between five student-athletes, with four hits coming off the bats of Macias (2) and Perez (2). Perez would hit another RBI double in the seventh inning, but the deficit remained at 5-3 through the final pitch.
