SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - February 7, 2024 - The Hiram men's basketball team lost to Wittenberg, 77-57, on Wednesday evening at Pam Evans Smith Arena.
Despite the loss, Hiram outscored the opposing Tigers, 11-9, in fast-break points behind a great presence on the defensive end that featured at least one steal from five different student athletes.Â
Hiram was led by junior Trent Jakacki, who had two steals while also putting up 16 points and nine rebounds. The Terriers bench scored 23 points, with freshman Galdan Batzorig leading the second unit with 12 points in 25 minutes of action.Â
The Tigers rode a 38-point outburst in the first half to take a 17-point lead heading into the intermission. The Tigers saw a big contribution from Scott Dawson with 15 points and Cameron Harrison with 14 points.
Hiram played well in the second half, scoring 36 points as a team and holding its opposition to a FG pct below 40%, but the Tigers were able to close the game out in the end.Â
The Hiram men's basketball team will be honoring its seniors this Saturday as it matches up with Wabash at home starting at 6 p.m.
