Hiram Drops NCAC Opener At No. 16 Ohio Wesleyan

Terriers Face Tough Competition On Wednesday

DELAWARE, Ohio - December 4, 2024 - Hiram women's basketball dropped its conference opener to No. 16 Ohio Wesleyan, 77-40, on Wednesday evening at Branch Rickey Arena.

Despite the loss, the Terriers got a 10-rebound effort from Brooke Hickman and a team-high 7 points from Ava Mory in her first start of the season. Both Hickman and Anastasia Lawler also had four steals to cap off the biggest contributions of the game.

The Battling Bishops, who entered the week ranked 16th according to D3Hoops.com after winning the NCAC regular season title in 2023-24, jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. OWU was effective in forcing turnovers during that span, gaining a lead that stood for the remainder of the contest.

Ohio Wesleyan finished the game with 34 points off turnovers, with three different student-athletes scoring in double-figures: Macy Miller (18), Kasey Schipfer (15) and Karlee Ross (12). Hiram held its opposition to just a 39% FG pct in the third quarter, but the home team ultimately prevailed and improved to a perfect 7-0 on the season.

The Terriers will return home for the first time in nearly a month on Monday, when they host Thiel at 6 p.m. inside Price Gymnasium in Hiram, Ohio.
