WEST LIBERTY, West Virginia - December 22, 2024 - Hiram dropped its final dual of the 2024 calendar year, with Lexi Doerflinger, Kylee Bentley and Mallory Chunat each picking up wins despite a 40-17 loss to West Liberty on Sunday morning.

Doerflinger (103 lbs) got the day started with a win by forfeit, giving the Terriers a 6-0 lead to begin the dual.

Bentley (110 lbs) extended that lead to 12-0 with a win by fall over Jeulenea Khang by fall (2:17). The senior leads the Terriers in wins this season and has added to her program-record total of wins throughout the 2024-25 campaign.

West Liberty responded with three straight wins of its own, two of which came by forfeit and one by technical fall (11-0) over Jaelyn Collins (124 lbs). It marked the second event in the exciting young career for Collins, who hails from Spanaway, WA.

Chunat (138 lbs) earned Hiram's final five team points of the dual, beating Skyelar Smith by technical fall (14-4). It marked Chunat's first action on the mats since the JCU Duals on Nov. 24.

The Hilltoppers won each of the final four bouts to secure the 40-17 victory. The Terriers' Allydia Byard (160 lbs) and Kayla Mena (207 lbs) each fought hard, but ultimately fell short against one of the better teams in the region.

Hiram will return to competition on Friday, Jan. 10 for a home quad match with Bethany, Otterbein and Mount Union. The duals are slated to start at 6 p.m. inside Price Gymnasium, with a pre-match ceremony for senior Kylee Bentley beginning just before then.
