Stapleton Makes Splash In Loss To No. 10 DePauw

Terriers Fall To Top-10 Team In Division III

HIRAM, Ohio – November 9, 2024 – Hiram lost to one of the best teams in all of Division III on Saturday afternoon, scoring a highlight reel touchdown right before halftime but losing to No. 10 DePauw, 58-7, at Henry Field as part of Senior Day.

The Terriers honored seniors Jaden Jennings, Zachary Shannon, Riley Haugh, Egya Quaison-Sackey, Anthony Sessi, Gabriel Hoskins, Tonvanta Revis, Malakai Nation, Breyana Buxton, Adnex Bumba, Anthony Brumbaugh, Alfred Pedro, Jeron Hall, Joshua Michael, Jairus Green and Damian Concklin before the game as part of the Senior Day festivities, a special moment for a group of student-athletes who have given so much to the Hiram program.

Despite the loss, Hiram had an impressive touchdown on a 3rd-and-25 play, with Jennings finding Jordan Stapleton in the back-right corner of the end zone for a 36-yard touchdown with less than 20 seconds on the first half clock. Stapleton had also caught a 19-yard pass on that same drive, with Jenning evading pressure and making an athletic play to find Stapleton along the home sideline.

DePauw was in control throughout the game, with quarterback Nathan McCahill going 14-of-19 through the air for 228 yards and three touchdowns. The team's running back also combined for five rushing touchdowns in the game, keeping the Tigers' perfect season alive (now 9-0, 7-0 NCAC).

DePauw entered the week as the No. 10 team in all of Division III, according to d3football.com

Hiram will look to make some noise next Saturday, when it travels to Oberlin, Ohio for a matchup with the Yeomen at 12 p.m.
