UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio - November 24, 2024 - Hiram picked up its first two dual wins of the season at the JCU Duals on Sunday, beating John Carroll (30-30, 2-0 in tiebreaker) and Rio Grande (25-19), while also losing to Buffalo State (32-20) inside the DeCarlo Varsity Center.
Kylee Bentley (110 lbs) highlighted the event for the Terriers, as she picked up her 50th career victory in the first dual against Buffalo State, beating Renata Tumusabire by fall (1:08). The senior's all-time leading win total grew even further in the second dual, too, thanks to a win over John Carroll's Meredith Milligan by fall (0:20).
It continues an incredibly successful career for Bentley, who has been with the program since its inception in 2021-22. Between the three duals on Sunday, Bentley scored 18 points for her team.
First-year Autumn Shoff (117 lbs) made her collegiate debut and wasted no time between the three duals, beating Buffalo State's Hailey Hankinson by decision (9-3). Shoff also lost to Rio Grande's Haley Williams by technical fall, but finished the day with her first collegiate win and a memorable moment alongside her teammates.
Mallory Chunat (145 lbs) was the only Hiram student-athlete to win all three of her bouts on Sunday. The junior beat Buffalo State by technical fall (16-6), John Carroll by fall (1:42) and Rio Grande by fall (0:40). Chunat currently leads Hiram in wins this season.
The Terriers will get the holiday week off before jumping back into action on Saturday, Dec. 7 for the New Standard Invite in York, PA.
