Hiram Drops Season Finale To Wittenberg Despite 14-Point Second Quarter

Terriers Now Turn To 2025, When It Will Return To PAC

HIRAM, Ohio – November 23, 2024 – Hiram dropped its final game of the 2024 season on Saturday late afternoon despite a surge of offense in the second quarter, as the Terriers lost, 58-14, to Wittenberg in a rescheduled game at Henry Field.

Dylan Hargas caught a 13-yard touchdown and Jaden Jennings toughed out a 1-yard scoring run, but the Tigers got a 345-yard, four-touchdown performance from quarterback Jayden Miller to take control for most of the game. Wittenberg had three skill position players with at least 100 rushing/receiving yards in the game: Christian Manville (122 rushing yards), Troy Teepe (136 receiving yards) and Kade Ray (101 receiving yards).

Wittenberg latched onto a 14-0 lead in the first quarter thanks to a pair of scoring drives capped off by a 27-yard reception to Teepe and a 5-yard rush from Manville. Eric Rasheed also had a 46-yard reception during those drives, the longest play by either team up to that point in the contest.

Hiram made some strides at the start of the second quarter, with Traven Horton rushing for 17 yards and Jennings capping the drive with a pass over the middle to Hargas for a 13-yard touchdown. For Hargas, the touchdown marked his team-high fourth touchdown of the season.

The Terriers finished the half with a seven-play, 52-yard scoring drive to cut a 23-point deficit to 30-14. Jordan Stapleton, who finished with a team-high 45 receiving yards, had 20 receiving yards on the drive to set up Jennings for a one-yard touchdown run.

The Tigers had their foot on the gas pedal throughout the second half, scoring the final 28 points of the game. Despite the final score, the game still gave Hiram the chance to provide its entire depth chart a chance to play, including Eythan Evans-Petkosek (three tackles) and CC Harrison (one reception).

Hiram will now prepare for the fall of 2025, when it will compete in the Presidents' Athletic Conference for the first time since 1988.
