DELAWARE, Ohio - November 2, 2024 - The Hiram women's volleyball team lost its final regular-season conference match on Saturday, falling in three sets to Ohio Wesleyan at Branch Rickey Arena: 25-10, 25-20, 25-23. Despite the loss, the Terriers officially locked in their spot for the NCAC Tournament, where they will travel to Springfield, Ohio to take on Wittenberg in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, November 12 (time: TBD).
Hiram improved as the match progressed, increasing their kill total from four in the first set to 10 in the second set to 11 in the third set. Senior Cate Maguire led the charge with eight kills, while Samantha Telisman had six kills and Andrya Hanmore added five kills. Brooke Fishback led the Terriers in assists (10) and digs (11) in the defeat.
The Terriers played some of their best volleyball in the second set, when they led 5-2 and 16-12, and throughout the third set, when they were within three points of winning the set against a talented NCAC opponent. The Battling Bishops answered every rally with one of their own before ultimately prevailing on their home court.
Natalie Dieball (16 kills) and Ava Kutilek (10 kills) led all student-athletes in the match in kills, with Lily Bechina notching 41 assists and 14 digs.
Hiram will get one final tune-up before the NCAC Tournament, when it travels to New Concord, Ohio for a non-conference matchup against Muskingum on Wednesday at 7 p.m. A finalized start time for the NCAC Tournament quarterfinal round will be announced this upcoming week.
