ALFRED, New York - November 17, 2024 - Hiram posted its most dominant performance in program history on Sunday late afternoon, crushing SUNY-Delhi, 104-28, which marked the program's most points and largest margin of victory in a game. The win improved the team's record to 2-2 and capped off a strong weekend at the Alfred Classic.
The Terriers also made their most 3-pointers for a single game (20), while posting their second-most assists (25) and third-most steals (21). On an individual basis, Anastasia Lawler entered the record books with 9 3-pointers, passing Kelsey Koskinen's 8 3-pointers against Marietta in 2011. The graduate student was later named to the Alfred Classic All-Tournament Team.
Hiram never trailed in the contest thanks to a fast start; the team jumped on the opposition for a 36-7 lead at the end of the first quarter and continued that momentum with a 66-15 lead heading into the intermission. A 23-0 scoring run to start the first quarter was Hiram's best of the game and by far its best of the young 2024-25 season.
The Terriers continued to play a clean basketball game throughout the second half, holding their opposition to 6 points in the third quarter and 7 points in the fourth quarter. The Broncos were held to 8-or-fewer points in each of the four periods.
Lawler had one of the most productive games in the history of the program, which dates back to 1974-75. The graduate student not only shot 9-18 from beyond the arc and 11-22 overall for a career-high 32 points, but she also tallied eight assists and a career-high seven steals. Lawler scored or assisted on 54 of Hiram's 104 points (52%) in the contest.
Also contributing for Hiram was center Brooke Hickman with 14 points and 13 rebounds, as well as Jo Janda (11 points) and Sarah Seaman (10 points). Twelve different Terriers student-athletes made at least one field goal in the game.
The Terriers will return to Ohio and begin preparation for an exhibition against Division I Miami (Ohio) on Friday at 11 a.m. in Oxford. The Redhawks are 3-1 this season, which includes wins over Austin Peay, Tiffin and Appalachian State.
