HIRAM, Ohio - October 5, 2024 - The Terriers women's soccer team celebrated seven seniors on Saturday afternoon, a special opportunity to commemorate years of contributions – both inside the classroom and on the soccer field – to Hiram College and the campus community.
The team lost its Senior Day match to Oberlin, 5-0, but a pre-match ceremony with families and friends captured the countless memories the program has created together with this season's senior class.
Seniors Kena Crownover, Samantha Humphrey, Olivia Kraft, Mackenzie Morrison, Hannah Nader, Briana Troyan and Caitlin Tucker were honored as part of the Senior Day festivities, a group that has combined for 27 seasons of action, with three seasons including all seven student-athletes.
Oberlin balanced its scoring throughout the match, as it found the back of the net in the 20th, 28th, 30th, 52nd and 69th minutes. Four different Yeowomen studnet-athletes scored in the match: Zoe Garver, Heather Benway (scored twice), Morgan Chianfini and Samantha Gilfond.
Hiram finished the match with a pair of corner kicks and three saves from goalkeeper Emma Deffenbaugh.
It marks the start of conference play for the Terriers, who will be competing in the NCAC in 2024 before transitioning to the PAC – along with most of Hiram's other varsity programs – in 2025-26.
Hiram will look get six days away from competition before returning to the field on Saturday for a road battle with DePauw. Kickoff is slated for a 2:30 p.m. start from Reavis Stadium in Greencastle, Indiana.
