MEADVILLE, Pennsylvania - October 17, 2024 - Hiram women's volleyball lost to Allegheny in three sets on Thursday evening at the David V. Wise Center: 25-17, 25-20, 25-19.
It marked the second meeting between the two teams this season; the Gators prevailed in a thrilling five-set match over the Terriers inside Price Gymnasium on September 28. The teams will next meet in 2025, when Hiram Athletics officially begins full-time competition in the PAC.
The Terriers attack featured senior Kayla Franks, who posted a season-high seven kills and two service aces. Kelly Hoffman contributed both offensively and defensively, recording team-highs in assists (14) and digs (13, tied with Brooke Fishback).
Seniors Cate Maguire and Emily Richardson each had six kills to round out the team's biggest performances of the evening.
The Gators totaled at least 14 kills in each of the three sets, with Angelee Bawek (18) and Dagney Javes (14) leading all student-athletes in the match in that department. Allegheny is now 17-5 this season, which includes an 8-2 record at home and 3-0 record in the PAC.
Hiram will now begin a critical four-match stretch against NCAC competition, beginning with a home battle against Kenyon on Wednesday at 7 p.m. inside Price Gymnasium in Hiram, Ohio.
