Terriers Offense Continues To Thrive In Tight Loss To W&J

Hiram Remains In Good Form In Highly Competitive Match

WASHINGTON, Pennsylvania - September 6, 2023 - Hiram scored multiple goals for a third straight game on Wednesday evening at Alexandre Stadium, a feat it hadn't accomplished since the 2017 season. The big offensive day came against a Washington & Jefferson team that was also clicking on all cylinders, as the Terriers suffered their first loss of the season, 3-2.

The freshmen took center stage, with Jimmy Zeilmann scoring his first collegiate goal and Jayden Julian adding his second goal of the young season. Hiram outshot its opposition in the first half (5-3) and had more shots on goal for the entire match (6-5).

Zeilmann broke the scoring barrier in the 23rd minute, sinking his first goal after having four quality shots over the team's first two games. The North Royalton native has had multiple shot attempts in each of his three career games, which includes 3 shots on goal (T-most on team).

After a W&J goal to even the score at 1-1, Julian returned to the scoring column in the 51st minute to regain a 2-1 lead. Julian is the first Terriers student-athlete to have multiple goals this season.

Washington & Jefferson would answer again, with two goals on three assists over the final 40 minutes of the contest. The offense again created opportunities before the Presidents defense held firm to keep it a 1-goal margin as the final minutes elapsed.

Hiram will seek its 3rd win of the year on Saturday, when it hosts La Roche at 3 p.m. from Henry Field in Hiram, Ohio.
