HIRAM, Ohio - September 27, 2023 - The Terriers women's volleyball team had exciting moments in all three of its sets against Allegheny on Wednesday evening at Price Gymnasium, but fell just shot in the non-conference loss: 17-25, 22-25, 20-25.
Hiram led in all three sets of the match, with leads as large as two points in set one (11-9), 11 points in set two (19-8) and four points in set three (10-6). It was a great effort from a team that was playing behind a home crowd that brought consistent energy and supported the program throughout.
The performance also came against an Allegheny team that has now won eight of its last nine matches.
For the Terriers, Amber Fox and Cate Maguire led the way with 7 kills each, while Andrya Hanmore and Emily Richardson added 6 kills each. Brooke Fishback and Erin Burke combined for 27 assists, with Brooke Norris helping the team defensively and chipping in 13 digs.
That group collectively played well in the match, but a late surge from the Gators in each set was enough to pull away with the victory.Â
Hiram returns to conference play on Saturday, when it hosts Denison at 1 p.m. inside Price Gymnasium.
