HIRAM, Ohio - September 1, 2023 - It was a tense, back-and-forth battle of the defenses on Friday evening at Henry Field, as senior Skyler Huda had 11 saves and the rest of the Terriers defense did everything it could to preserve a scoreless game in what ended up being a 0-0 tie against Heidelberg.
The tie comes against a Heidelberg team that had a 17-16-2 record over the last two seasons, a span that included a win over John Carroll in 2021 and a tie against Wittenberg in 2022.
Huda led the way with assertive play on the defensive end, corralling the ball numerous times with multiple Heidelberg players within striking distance. Tayleigh Price also was a presence, playing all 90 minutes of the game with another strong defensive effort.
On the offensive end, Hiram had 11 shots (6 on goal) and nearly had the game-winning goal in the final 10 minutes of the contest. Freshmen Reagan Mory and Bella Simmons combined for 5 shots, 3 of which were on goal. Regina Dubeansky, Mackenzie Morrison and Sydney Ladage also had shots on goal.
Hiram will look to keep the momentum going on Sunday, when it travels to Latrobe, Pennsylvania to take on St. Vincent at 12 p.m. from UPMC Field.
