MEADVILLE, Pennsylvania - September 15, 2023 - The Terriers split their first two games at the Allegheny Invitational on Friday evening at the David V. Wise Center, beating Pitt-Greensburg in four sets before falling to Wilmington in four sets.
It marks the first half to a busy weekend for Hiram; the team will have played four games in a span of 24 hours before all is said and done. The Terriers enter action on Saturday with three wins on the young season.
Game 1 Recap: 3-1 Win vs Pitt-Greensburg
Hiram had one of its best performances of the year to kickoff the weekend, with three different student-athletes recording at least 10 kills in a 4-set win over Pitt-Greensburg: Emily Richardson (11), Cate Maguire (10) and Claire Brunner (10).
For Brunner, the match marked her first career stat line with double-digit kills and it tied for her most sets played in a single match. She also set a career-high with 14 digs.
Brooke Fishback was also a key contributor, as the second-year player had a season-high 20 assists to go along with 6 service aces and 18 digs of her own. Richardson rounded out the notable defensive production with 4 blocks.
The Terriers lost the first set, 25-21, before rattling off three straight sets to take the match, 3-1. Pitt-Greensburg was held to fewer than 20 points in each of the final two sets.
