Game 1 Recap

A 3-run third inning and 4-run fourth inning proved to be the difference in Game 1; Kanno highlighted those offensive bursts with a pair of RBI triples, both of which scored Garcia. Kawamura (triple) and Garcia (double) also added extra-base hits to bring home runs.

Meza continued her consistent form with a final line of 5.2 IP, 7 H, 2 R/ER, 3 BB, 2 K. The junior has allowed 3-or-fewer ER in all 8 of her starts this season.

The Terriers finished strong and outscored their opposition, 2-1, over the final three innings. Baeza notched an RBI single and Kanno pitched 1.1 scoreless frames to seal the win.

Game 2 Recap

Oberlin broke the scoring barrier in the second inning, but Hiram would finish Game 2 with 8 unanswered runs behind a complete-game effort from Kanno. Angel Santellan gave the Terriers the lead with a 2-run single in the home half of the fourth before Abriana Schwartz made an impact on an RBI triple.

The top of the order did the rest of the damage, with Bahena, Kawamura and Garcia each recording an RBI hit in the sixth inning to stretch the Hiram lead to 8-1. Those three hitters combined to bat 7-for-12 in Game 2.

Kanno added onto her strong relief appearance in Game 1 with her longest outing of the 2023 campaign. The Yeowomen didn't record an extra-base hit in the game, lifting the sophomore to her 6th win of the year: 7 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 K.
