Hiram Finishes Florida Trip On 3-Game Win Streak

Terriers Win 2 Games On Saturday vs Fontbonne, Geneva

WINTER HAVEN, Florida - March 11, 2023 - The Terriers finished their Florida trip in convincing fashion, beating Fontbonne (2-1) and Geneva (8-0) to head back to Ohio with a 5-3 overall record.

Angel Santellan was dominant on the mound in Game 1, with Danielle Robles accounting for the team's offensive production in the low-scoring battle. Nine different Hiram players recorded a hit in Game 2, while Darian Kanno didn't allow a run in her 2nd start of the season (7th appearance).

Game 1 Recap vs Fontbonne

Santellan had everything working against the Griffins, inducing 6 groundball outs and 6 flyball outs over 5 innings of 1-hit ball. Her final line put the team in position for the win: 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R/ER, 2 BB, 2 K.

Hiram scored its 2 runs in the top half of the fourth inning; Megan Moser bunted her teammates over to second and third before Robles found green grass in left field for a 2-run double. Santellan and Giselle Bahena scored on the play after singling and reaching on an error respectively.

The bullpen tandem of Trinity Meza and Kanno took it from there, pitching the last 2 innings to seal the win. Kanno entered with 2 outs in the seventh inning and promptly struck out the last hitter of the game.

Game 2 Recap vs Geneva

The Terriers got much more production from their offense in the second game, tallying 8 runs on 13 hits over a shortened game of 5 innings. Robles had another 2 RBI in the game, while Fayth Kawamura and Victoria Garcia combined for 5 hits and 2 RBI out of the first two spots in the batting order.

Kanno toed the rubber and didn't allow an opposing runner to advance past second base for the entirety of the contest. She also chipped in a sacrifice fly and hit as a batter in the game.

Hiram will get nearly a week off before returning to action on Friday against John Carroll at 3 p.m. at Herndon Field.
