ADRIAN, Michigan - March 11, 2023 - Hiram went to Adrian, Michigan for a doubleheader where they faced Maranatha Baptist University and Adrian College.
Hiram ended up beating Maranatha in 3 sets but fell to Adrian in straight sets to move its overall record to 5-10.
Hiram seemed to be really dominant in the first game of the day against Maranatha Baptist, as they limited their opposition to 20-or-fewer points in each set. The Terriers led in kills for each set and really were in control the entire match. They were led by sophomore Jarod Leynes in kills with 15, which is also the most kills he has had in any career game. The team was also led by Kyle Martini in blocks with 4 and digs with 13.Â
The Terriers could not carry that momentum into their matchup against Adrian, however, as they battled hard in a 50-point first set before losing by a wider margin in the second and third sets. Leynes again ;ed the team in kills with 3, while Martini racked up 5 digs.
Look out for the Terriers next time as they head to Alliance and face off against the University of Mount Union on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
