GREENVILLE, Pennsylvania - February 25, 2023 -Â Hiram battled hard but the offense of Thiel proved to be too much in a straight set loss on Saturday afternoon: 25-16, 25-14, 25-13. The Tomcats improved to 5-1 in conference play, while the Terriers dropped to 3-3.
Thiel's balanced effort was apparent in each set, as it held Hiram below 20 points and kept pressure on them. Hiram could not muster a lead larger than 2 throughout the match.
The Terriers ended set one with 16 points but could not get that fire back, ending set two with 13 points and set three with 14.
Â
Despite the loss, freshman
Cullen Sivak had 6 kills to lead the team. That total was also his 2nd-most in any career game (9 vs Penn State Altoona).
Stay tuned for the Hiram's next matchup, when it faces off against Eastern Mennonite on March 4 in Virginia.Â
