HIRAM, Ohio - February 23, 2023 - A 3-goal day from Noah Pilgram wasn't enough for Hiram in a 16-6 loss to Allegheny on Thursday evening at Henry Field.
The performance marked Pilgram's 2nd-most points in a career game (4 at Mt. St. Joseph last season); he also assisted on 1 of the team's other 3 goals. Ethan Mayer, Trevor Flugum and Micky Morgan accounted for the remainder of the Terriers' scoring.
It marks the start of the 2023 campaign for Hiram and the first of 9 home games throughout the regular season. The Terriers now trail the all-time series to the Gators, 4-0.
Allegheny jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Pilgram got Hiram on the board with the first goal of the campaign. Shortly thereafter in the early stages of the second period, the sophomore returned to the scoring column with another goal to cut the deficit to 4-2.
Morgan, who was playing in his first collegiate game as a freshman midfielder, teamed with Trevor Nordstrom to score his first goal and keep Hiram within two goals.Â
The Gators responded with 9 unanswered goals between the second and third periods, carving out a 14-3 lead. Hiram got back on track toward the end of the period and fought until the final whistle, but the deficit proved to be too much in the end.
It will be a quick turnaround for the Terriers, as they take on Franciscan on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Henry Field.
