HIRAM, Ohio – November 29, 2023 - The Hiram women's basketball team faced Heidelberg University at home on Wednesday in a tightly contested battle.

The Terriers lost by a final score of 68-64, falling just short despite a late-game rally in their second contest inside Price Gymnasium this season. Â

Hiram was able to start off hot in the first 10 minutes of the game, as the Terriers led going into the second quarter by a score of 18-14. The home team doubled up its opposition in points in the paint during that span, 12-6.

Heidelberg found the hot hand in the second quarter, as it scored 25 points and took a 4-point lead heading into the intermission. Four different Heidelberg student-athletes registered at least 10 points throughout the non-conference matchup.

The Terriers kept the game close in the second half, with the overall scoring over the final 20 minutes being tied, 29-29. Hiram cut a 15-point deficit to 3 points with 37 seconds remaining in regulation, but the perimeter defense of the Student Princes sealed the victory.

Brooke Hickman added to her impressive season, leading all student-athletes in the game with 15 points and 3 blocks.
Maddie Rakestraw and
Payton Black each scored in double-figures to go along with 7 rebounds each.

The Terriers had 11 steals in the game, too, marking their third straight game with 10+ steals.
