GREENVILLE, Pennsylvania - December 4, 2023 - Hiram put together one of its best performances of the season on Monday evening at Beeghly Gymnasium, dominating in every facet of the game as part of a 74-40 win over Thiel.
The Terriers made 29 field goals and limited their opposition to just 14 field goals; freshman Payton Black (21 points) and junior Brooke Hickman (17 points) fueled the offense, while the defense combined for 20 forced turnovers in the contest.
Perhaps the most impressive stat was Hiram's season-high 54 rebounds, which led to 17 second-chance points and 17 fast-break points. The last time the Terriers had 54+ rebounds in a game was on Nov. 21, 2021 at Alfred State (54 rebounds).
The entire first quarter had a single-digit margin, with Black scoring 5 points off the bench to give her team an early edge. Hickman was also active in the opening period, tallying 8 points and 7 rebounds during that span.
The second quarter saw Hiram limit the Tomcats to 5 points, with the defense tightening up and the offense shooting over 50 percent (8-15, 53.3%). No points were scored by the home team over the final seven minutes of the first half.
Hiram furthered its momentum in the second half, with Black scoring 11 points in the third quarter and the depth of the roster contributing throughout the fourth quarter. Twelve different Terriers student-athletes scored at least 1 point in the victory.
Next up is a road matchup against Adrian on Saturday at 5 p.m. from Merillat Sport and Fitness Center in Adrian, Michigan.
