CRESSON, Pennsylvania - November 18, 2023 - Hiram's Brooke Hickman recorded a double-double and the Terriers outscored Mount Aloysius, 31-23, in the second half of a tightly contested loss (62-56) on Saturday afternoon at the Athletic Convocation and Wellness Center.
Freshman Payton Black also chipped in a career-high 11 points, while senior Anastasia Lawler filled the stat sheet for 10 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists. Megan Majeres, another talented first-year, led all student-athletes in the game with 3 three-pointers.
The Terriers showed resilience in the non-conference battle, coming back from a deficit that grew as large as 17 points early in the third quarter. The team ended the final 3 minutes and 20 seconds of that period on a 7-2 run to move the deficit to single digits (48-40).
The momentum continued in the fourth quarter, with Hiram going on a 13-2 run and taking a 53-50 lead with 5:02 remaining in regulation. Majeres was a critical part of both scoring runs, scoring all 9 of her points during that span, with Hickman contributing multiple layups and Lawler finding her form from beyond the arc.
The Mounties would hold firm, though, regaining a 5-point lead thanks to a three-pointer from Jade Love-Morris with 1:04 to go, Molly Kosmack, who finished with a game-high 20 points, also was part of the rally.
Hiram wouldn't go down easily, as Lawler and Black both scored down the stretch of the game, but the Mount Aloysius defense was the difference in sealing the home team's win.
The Terriers will take some time off before returning to the hardwood on Monday, November 27 against Defiance at 7 p.m. in Defiance, Ohio.
