HIRAM, Ohio – October 7, 2023 – The Hiram women's soccer team opened its conference schedule with a 3-0 loss to DePauw on Saturday afternoon at Henry Field.
It was a game defined by defense, as the Terriers stayed within one goal for the first 70 minutes of the game.
Skyler Huda finished the day with 8 saves, extending her conference-leading total to 75 for the full season.
Huda now has 333 career saves, which is 11 shy of the fourth-most saves in Hiram program history.
The Terriers played well in the first half, getting a shot attempt from
Caitlin Tucker and a pair of saves by Huda in the first 27 minutes.
Tayleigh Price chased down a number of Tigers players to limit the scoring opportunities early on.
DePauw struck first on a Whitney Wells goal in the 29
th minute, a header that was well-placed through the corner of the net. It marked the only offense in the first half, with Hiram limiting the opposition to just five shots on goal despite facing four corner kicks.

Sydney Ladage was assertive on the offensive end of the field in the second half, sprinting past the defenders and recording a team-high two shots in the period. Tucker also found an opportunity in the 62
nd minute, but missed just high.
The Tigers scored goals in the 71
st and 77
th minutes to extend the margin and seal the conference opener.
The Terriers had a supportive home crowd and finished the game with something to build on moving into their next game, which will be on Wednesday at 7 p.m. against Ohio Wesleyan at Henry Field in Hiram, Ohio.
