Baker Scores 2nd Goal In Loss To Ohio Wesleyan

Freshman Fuels Hiram On Penalty Kick

HIRAM, Ohio - October 11, 2023 - The Terriers women's soccer team got their second penalty kick goal of the season in a 4-1 loss to Ohio Wesleyan on Wednesday evening at Henry Field.

Kali Baker, who is now tied for second on the team with two goals this season, scored her first career penalty kick in the 35th minute to tie the game at 1-1. Hiram had surrendered a goal in the 10th minute, but played well on the defensive end to keep within distance and eventually level the tally.

The Battling Bishops would get another goal in the half, but only led by one goal at halftime. Sydney Ladage had Hiram's other shot attempts during that span, missing in the 23rd and 31st minutes despite working hard on the offensive end of the field.

Ohio Wesleyan found a groove in the second half, scoring twice to reach four goals in the game. It is now 7-4-2 this season and 2-0 in conference games.

Hiram's Regina Dubeansky and Olivia Kraft also recorded shots on goal in the game, while the defensive unit did all it could to keep the opposition off the scoreboard. Goalkeeper Katelynn Everett made her collegiate debut and racked up eight saves in the match.

The Terriers will have a quick turnaround this weekend, as they travel to Gambier, Ohio to take on Kenyon on Saturday at 3 p.m. from Mavec Field.
