CLEVELAND, Ohio - October 11, 2023 - The Hiram women's volleyball team fell short to the Spartans of Case Western Reserve on Wednesday evening at Horsburgh Gymnasium: 25-12, 25-19, 25-19.
The Terriers were led by Emily Richardson, who recorded 13-or-more kills for the fifth time this season. Cate Maguire and Andrya Hanmoore each chipped in with 6 kills apiece behind the setting of Brooke Fishback (17 assists) and Erin Burke (11 assists).
Brooke Norris had a team-high 11 digs, with Burke (8) and Claire Brunner (8) trailing behind her in that department.
It was a tough matchup for the Terriers, who lost to a team that is now 8-1 at home and 17-5 overall. Hiram would string together runs of six points in the second set and four points in the third set, but the attack of the Spartans – spearheaded by Rea Marfatia's 16 kills – proved to be the difference.
Hiram will stay on the road and play another non-conference match on Saturday at 6 p.m. against Thiel from Maenpa Court at Beeghly Gymnasium in Greenville, Pennsylvania.
