Freshman Baker Scores First Career Goal In Indiana

Hiram Goes Into Conference Play Next Week

NOTRE DAME, Indiana - October 1, 2023 - The Hiram women's soccer team lost to Saint Mary's College on their trip to Indiana on Sunday with a final score of 6-1.

The non-conference battle provided an opportunity for Hiram freshman Kali Baker, who ended the day with her first career goal. Baker has had plenty of opportunities this season with 2 shots vs Allegheny at home on September 27 as well as 5 shots vs Olivet on September 23. The momentum continued for the North Ridgeville, Ohio native on Sunday.

Hiram kept the game close in the first 45 minutes, only allowing two goals by Saint Mary's during that span. Baker was able to score in the 29th minute of the game with an assist by Sydney Ladage.

Two goals by Margaret Slove in the second half seemed to create enough separation in the game to keep the Terriers at bay for the remainder of the game. Hiram was unable to get shots off in the second half, but was able to collect four saves for a total of six on the day for Skyler Huda.

Saint Mary's ended up winning the game, 6-1, as they seemed to close out Hiram in the second half after a strong effort by the Terriers in the first half.

Look out for the Hiram women's soccer team as they face off in their first conference game of the year against DePauw University on Saturday, October 7 at 1 p.m. from Henry Field in Hiram, Ohio.
