OBERLIN, Ohio - January 28, 2023 - The Hiram men's and women's swimming teams fell short against Oberlin and Wooster on Saturday morning.
The men lost 201.5-38.5 to Oberlin and 205-39 to Wooster. The women lost 198-34 to Oberlin and 199-33 to Wooster.
For the season, the men are now 6-4 in dual meets and the women are 5-7.
Men's Recap
Dayne Sauter had a strong time in the 50-yard butterfly, placing 3rd out of 10 swimmers with a time of 24.66. The sophomore also placed 12th out of 22 in the 100-yard IM (59.40).
Owen Pastorius came in 7th out of 13 swimmers in the 200-yard freestyle (1:54.35) and 10th out of 12 in the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.52). He also was part of the 4th place 200-yard freestyle relay team that included Jon Hybil, Landon Hughes and Sauter (1:34.30).
The 200-yard medley relay team of Nathan Ratynski, Hybil, Pastorius and Sauter landed 7th out of 8 teams with a mark of 1:50.05.
Women's Recap
Kicking off the day for the women was a solid finish in the 200-yard medley relay; the team of Moraine Jackson, Lilly MacDonald, Elena Rinaldi and Adrianna Klepper finished 7th out of 9 with a time of 2:06.29.
MacDonald kept the momentum going in the 50-yard backstroke, finishing 6th out of 11 (35.40). She also placed 8th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:20.68).
Other notable results included Jackson in the 50-yard freestyle (28.08, 10th) and Rinaldi in the 50-yard butterfly (30.07, 10th) and 100-yard IM (1:12.24, 12th).
Both teams will resume competition with the NCAC Championships in Granville, Ohio, which begin on Wednesday, Feb. 8.
