Clutch Play From Gordon Lifts Hiram Over Kenyon

Terriers Reach Double-Digit Wins This Season

GAMBIER, Ohio - January 25, 2023 - Brodgie Gordon dominated the key moments of a tightly contested affair to give Hiram a 78-73 win and season series sweep against Kenyon for the first time since 2018-19.

Gordon himself outscored the Owls, 7-2, over the final 2:14 of the game to turn a 71-71 tie to a 78-73 victory. It's the Terriers' first conference win since Dec. 10.

With a 10-9 record, head coach Taylor Roth has led Hiram to its first season with 10+ wins since 2018-19 (12-14 record).

Gordon continued to showcase his clutch abilities, scoring each of his team's final 9 points in the game. The senior out of DeLand, Florida finished with 24 points on 6-11 shooting from the field and a perfect 12-12 shooting from the free-throw line. He now has 6 games with 20+ points this season.

Freshman Noah Adams had a breakout performance with a career-high 17 points off the bench, including 3 three-pointers over 26 minutes of action. Adams had 4 three-pointers in 13 career games entering play.

Dushawn Hill (13 points) and Kevin Beans Jr. (11) rounded out the scoring for a team that now ranks 6th in the NCAC standings.

Hiram trailed by 1 point at halftime, with neither team leading by more than 7 points in the first 20 minutes. Gordon finished the half with a layup in the closing seconds to bring the deficit to 38-37.

More of the same back-and-forth action continued in the second half, with the Terriers notably drawing contact and converting their opportunities at the free-throw line. Hiram shot 11-11 from the line in the first half (Kenyon: 5-8) and 17-19 in the second half (Kenyon: 7-15).

Adams made his presence particularly felt in the second half, scoring 10 of his 17 points in the period. He made a three-pointer to bring the score to 47-47, a layup to tie the game 52-52 and another three-pointer to regain a 62-61 lead with 6:03 to play in regulation.

Gordon took over from there, scoring 14 points in the final 5:21 of the game to get his team back on track in the NCAC playoff picture. He also filled the stat sheet for 8 rebounds and 3 assists throughout the contest.

Hiram will play DePauw on Saturday at 2 p.m. inside Price Gymnasium, where it features a 6-3 record this season.
