HIRAM, Ohio – January 20, 2023 – The Hiram women's wrestling team hosted its second meet of the season, earning valuable experience in a pair of duals against Albion (lost 26-7) and Tiffin (lost 34-11). Tiffin also beat Albion, 23-18, to begin the night.
The Terriers got their evening started with four strong efforts against Albion. Kylee Bentley lost by technical fall (19-9) at 109 lbs, Kenedi Keesey lost by decision (5-1) at 123 lbs, Bethany Smith lost by technical fall (10-0) at 130 lbs and Allydia Byard lost by fall (1:32) at 143 lbs.
The early momentum was enough for Hiram to score more points and pick up a win in the final match against Tiffin.
Byard highlighted the dual with a win by fall (1:55) over Paige Lenhardt to score her team 5 of its 11 points. Smith also scored a point in a loss by technical fall (12-2) vs Mackenzie Buck.
Capping off the meet was a big bounce-back performance from Bentley in an exhibition match against Tiffin's Leah Pekar. The sophomore out of Hubbard, Ohio won by fall in 1:18 before a roaring home crowd rose to its feet.
Hiram will continue working through its winter schedule on Friday and Saturday this week at the Indiana Warrior Duals and Indiana Tech Warrior Open in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
