HIRAM, Ohio – January 14, 2023 – The Terriers celebrated Senior Day in many ways on Saturday afternoon; they began the day by honoring seniors Lilly MacDonald and Carrie Robinson for their time with the program before the men's and women's teams both beat Washington and Jefferson (men: 147-95 | women: 130-101). The women also lost to Franciscan (153-93).

It marked the first time the Hiram men's team won against W&J dating back to 2003 and just the third time the women's team beat the Presidents during that span.

The men improve to 5-2 in dual meets this season, while the women now have a 4-5 record.

Men

Owen Pastorius got things rolling with a win in the 200-meter freestyle (2:07.15), posting a time that was nearly 11 seconds faster than the rest of the field. Jon Hybil followed up his teammate with a win in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:14.83) and later in the 200-meter breaststroke (2:49.23).

Landon Hughes made his presence felt in his season debut, taking down the 200-meter butterfly with a mark of 2:51.71 and the 400-meter freestyle as well (5:08.34). Dayne Sauter kept the momentum going in the right direction with a top finish in both the 50-meter freestyle (25.57) and 100-meter freestyle (55.51) events.

Pastorius returned to the winner's circle in two of the final three events of the afternoon, winning the 200-meter IM (2:34.17) before joining the winning 400-meter freestyle relay team of Hybil, Nathan Ratynski and Sauter (3:51.91).

Women

Natalie Brown won the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 5:35.30, over six seconds faster than the rest of the field. Shortly thereafter, Elena Rinaldi won the 100-meter butterfly (1:16.30).

Some other notable finishes from the women's team included Rinaldi in the 200-meter freestyle (2:34.59), MacDonald in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:34.64), Moraine Jackson in the 50-meter freestyle (31.52) and Adrianna Klepper in the 200-meter backstroke (3:02.96).

Senior Day

MacDonald and Robinson are set to graduate from Hiram in 2023 following a pair of impressive careers with the Terriers. MacDonald has specialized in the breaststroke and spring events, while Robinson has also specialized in the sprint events.

MacDonald, who is a Psychology major and Educational Studies minor at Hiram, mentioned that her favorite memory with the program was ringing the bell for the first time during her freshman year. She holds the women's 100 IM and 50 breaststroke program records with times of 1:05.70 and 33.62 respectively.

Robinson majors in History and Educational Studies and hopes to go to graduate school for Library and Information Science once she graduates. She has posted top results throughout her career with the Terriers, which dates back to the 2019-20 campaign.
