Box Score 2 Sandusky, OH -- Sept. 3, 2022 -- The Hiram College Women's Volleyball team won one match and lost one match in the first two contests at the Cedar Point Crossover Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 2 & 3. Hiram lost Friday's match, 3-0, to a strong Hope College squad that finished the tournament with a 4-0 record, but the Terriers turned the tables on Geneva College, winning in straight sets on Saturday morning to improve its overall record to 2-1.
Against Hope College, the Terriers has a poor hitting match, scoring on only 21 of 98 kill attempts with 16 errors for a .051%. Meanwhile, Hope hit .350% on the way to straight set wins of 25-17, 25-16 and 25-17.
Mackenzie Brannon led the team with four kills.
Mary Landis managed team-highs of seven assists and 11 digs.
Against Geneva, the Terriers managed a three-set sweep -- 25-18, 25-11, 25-20 -- while hitting .368 in the second set and .417 in the third. Brannon again led the team with eight kill shots. She was joined by
Emily Richardson who also contributed eight kills. Brannon also served three aces.
Andrya Hanmore notched a match-high four blocks, while Brooke
Fishback assisted on a match-high19 points and
Kelly Hoffman topped the team with 14 digs.
The third match at the Crossover Invitational was against Grove City. The Terriers pulled off another comeback after trailing 0-2 in sets. They turned on the afterburners to win, 25-23, 25-22 and 15-7 to capture the third victory of the season against just one loss (3-1) . No stats were
radily available on the Grove City match. They will be added as soon as they are made available.
