Box Score Delaware, OH -- Sept. 24, 2022 -- Hiram Women's Volleyball lost at Ohio Wesleyan in three sets in the North Coast Athletic Conference opener for both teams on Saturday at Branch Rickey Arena.
The Bishops defeated the Terriers by scores of 25-16, 25-14, 25-13.
The match was a series of runs by the Bishops that turned early close sets into victories. The first set was tied at 6-6 when the Bishops went on a run of 8-of-the-next-10 points to open a 14-8 lead. OWU went on to win the set, 25-16.Â
The Terriers trailed by one, 7-6, in the second set when OWU scored 8-of-the-next 11 points to take a 15-9 lead on the way to a 25-14 win.Â
Ohio Wesleyan reeled off 8 straight points to break an 8-8 tie in the third set, on the way to a 12-point win, 25-13.
The Terriers' offense had a poor hitting match, at .091 while the Bishops notched a .346 percentage.including a sterling.406 in the third set. Hiram was paced by senior outside hitter
Mackenzie Brannon and sophomore middle
Emily Richardson with five kill shots apiece; considerably fewer than the typical numbers to lead the team. Brannon also topped the defensive effort with 12 digs. Freshman DS
Kelly Hoffman added nine digs. Freshman setter
Brooke Fishback was credited with 11 assists.
