Box Score In rather auspicious fashion, the Hiram College women's volleyball team opened its' 2022-23 season with a bell-ringing, five-set victory over Penn State--Behrend on Thursday evening, Sept. 1, in Hiram's Coleman Center.

The Terriers fell  behind, losing the first two sets, 12-25, 21-25, before storming back to capture the last three sets, 25-18, 25-11 and 18-16 in the thrilling fifth set.  Hiram was paced by sophomore middle blocker Emily Richardson with a team-high 13 kill shots, and two blocks with two block assists.  Richardson's blocks helped Hiram double Behrend's blocks, 8-4.  Senior outside hitter Mackenzie Brannon added 11 kills and handled 17 out of 18 receptions (.944). 

Senior middle and captain Lyndsey Johns contributed nine kills and managed 11 of 12 receptions (.917).  Sophomore MB Cate Maguire scored on 7-of-11 kill shots for a whopping .636 hitting percentage.  Freshman setter Brooke Fishback set a game-high 13 assists while freshman DS Kelly Hoffman contributed eight assists and a game-high 28 of 29 receptions (.966).  As a team, Hiram 's hitting percentage was.476 in the fourth set. 

The Lady Terriers take their 1-0 record to Sandusky, OH, on Friday afternoon to play Hope College and Saturday morning against Geneva in the Cedar Point Invitational.
