Box Score Angola, IN -- Sept. 9, 2022 -- The Hiram College Women's Volleyball team lost a 3-1 match at Trine University on Friday night in the MIAA-NCAC Crossover. Trine hit a season-best .162 and held the Terriers to a .112 hitting percentage. Hiram won the first set, 25-19, after trailing 6-1 and going on a 12-3 run to take a 13-9 lead.
The second set founf Hiram down 23-17 before Trine closed out the set, 25-20.
The Terriers took the early lead in the third set, 6-1, and had advantages of 19-13 and 22-20, but Trine ran off five of the last six points to take a 2-1 lead in sets.
The fourth set was tied 10 times, but the Thunder put together a 10-3 run for a 20-16 lead and the eventual 25-21 victory.
Hiram was paced by sophomore outside hitter
Kayla Franks with 13 kill shots and three service aces. Freshman defensive specialist
Kelly Hoffman contributed a team-high 23 digs while senior middle
Lyndsey Johns blocked four shots.
The Terrier, 3-3 to date, play two more matches on Saturday at Trine,, against Adrian and St. Mary's (IN).
