ASHLAND, Ohio - April 6, 2022 – Hiram College STUNT dropped a mid-week matchup at Ashland University on Wednesday inside Kates Gymnasium, falling to Eagles by the final score of 16-8.
 
Ashland opened the match by winning the first two points of the first quarter, winning partner stunts two and three to take an early lead. Hiram then matched the Eagles on partner stunt one, with both teams earning a point, before Ashland took home another point in the final round of the first quarter to take a 4-1 lead after one.
 
The Terriers then opened quarter two, pyramids and tosses, with a point in round one, again matching the Eagles on routine three following a coach's challenge to make the score 5-2.
 
Ashland then picked up the point in round two to extend their lead to 6-2, but the Terriers pulled back within three just before the half, winning pyramids and tosses routine one to cut Ashland's lead to 6-3.
 
The Eagles though, came out of the halftime break and earned two-straight points to open the third quarter, extending their lead to 8-3 before the Terriers matched Ashland in jumps and tumbling routine two to pick up their first point of the third quarter.
 
However, Ashland added another point to wrap up the third, and took a 10-4 lead into the final period.
 
And while the Terriers earned two points in each of the first two rounds of the fourth quarter, Ashland matched them point-for-point, earning all three points in the opening round and two more in the second round to extend their lead to 15-8.
 
The Terriers then attempted partner stunt five for the first time on the mat in round three, but Ashland would earn one more point to finish off the 16-8 victory.
 
Hiram drops to 4-2 with the loss, while Ashland moves to 7-3 with the win.
 
The Terriers will wrap up the 2022 regular season on Saturday, April 16 in River Forest, Ill. with matchups against Concordia Chicago and Muskingum beginning at 1:00 p.m.
