Hiram STUNT Tops Concordia Chicago, Falls to Alma on Day One of the D3 STUNT National Championships

TOLEDO, Ohio - April 30, 2022The No. 2-seeded Hiram College STUNT team opened play at the 2022 D3 STUNT National Championships with a dominant, 17-7 win in their opening-round matchup against the No. 3-seeded Concordia University Chicago Cougars, before falling to the No. 1-seeded Alma College Scots, 21-0, in their second-round matchup.
 
The Terriers advance to day two of the championships, where they'll again face the No. 3-seeded Cougars at 10:00 a.m., with a spot in the championship game at noon against Alma on the line.
 
GAME 1: HIRAM 17, CONCORDIA CHICAGO 7
Hiram got off to a quick start against the Cougars, earning two points in the opening quarter, partner stunts, and all four points in the second quarter, pyramids and tosses, to take a 6-1 lead at the half.
 
The Terriers then extended their lead in the third quarter, again earning all four points in jumps and tumbling and outscoring Concordia Chicago 4-3 to extend their lead to 10-3 heading to the fourth.
 
And in the fourth and final quarter, team routines, Hiram again outscored the Cougars, earning three points in the opening round, one in the second round and all four in the final round to finish off the 17-7 victory and advance into the winners' bracket to face No. 1-seeded Alma.
 
GAME 2: ALMA 21, HIRAM 0
With a spot in the championship game on the line, Alma quickly surged ahead and took an 8-0 halftime lead, winning all eight points in the first two quarters.
 
And though the Terriers competed hard, the No. 1-seeded Scots continued to pull away in the third and fourth quarters, eventually finishing off the 21-0 victory.
 
Hiram moves on to face the No. 3-seeded Concordia Chicago Cougars at 10:00 a.m. on day two of the 2022 D3 STUNT National Championships, with the winner advancing to the championship game against Alma College at noon.
