LAKE FOREST, Ill. - April 16, 2022 – Hiram College STUNT split their regular-season finale against the Concordia University – Chicago Cougars on Saturday at Geiseman Gymnasium, falling to the Cougars in game one, 13-12, before bouncing game to take game two, 10-6. With the split, the Terriers wrap up the regular season at 5-3.
GAME 1: CONCORDIA CHICAGO 13, HIRAM 12
Though the Cougars started the first quarter with possession, Hiram picked up every point in the opening frame, winning or tying all four partner stunts to take a 4-2 lead after one.
The Terriers then continued their pace into the second quarter, pyramids and tosses, winning the first three points of the second quarter to take a 7-3 lead at the half.
However, the Cougars matched the Terriers with their third quarter, outscoring Hiram, 3-1, in jumps and tumbling to cut the Terriers' lead down to just two, 8-6, heading into the final period.
Both teams then earned two points in the opening round of the fourth quarter, team routines, making it a 10-6 Hiram lead. Concordia Chicago then outscored the Terriers, 2-1, in the second round, pulling within a point, 11-10, ahead of the final round of team routines.
And in the final round, the Cougars earned all three points on team routine one, whereas Hiram earned just one, to pull out a 13-12 victory over the Terriers.
GAME 1: HIRAM 10, CONCORDIA CHICAGO 6
Hiram and Concordia Chicago matched each other in the first quarter, with each side winning a round of partner stunts as well as splitting a round to make it a 2-2 tie after one.
The Terriers earned the opening point of quarter two, pyramids and tosses, to retake the lead, before the Cougars quickly tied things up, winning round two and routine three.
Hiram though, earned the next point in round three on routine two, and both teams forfeited to wrap up quarter two and give the Terriers a 4-3 lead at the halftime break.
The Terriers then stretched out their lead in the third, outscoring the Cougars, 3-2 on jumps and tumbling winning two rounds and matching the Cougars on routine three to take a 7-5 lead into the final frame.
And this time, Hiram pressed its advantage, picking up one point in the opening round of quarter four, and two in the second round, while the Cougars earned just one, to finish off the regular season with a bounce-back, 10-6 victory.
Hiram will next head to Toledo, Ohio for the D3 STUNT National Championships, hosted by the University of Toledo, beginning Saturday, April 30.
