Hiram Men's Basketball Drops Road Clash at Wabash

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – February 6, 2022 – Hiram men's basketball closed out the week dropping a North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) game at Wabash by a final score of 103-83.

Brodgie Gordon was able to get into the scoring column early for the Terriers, but Wabash started the game scoring in a hurry. Gordon's made jumper about four minutes into the start of the game cut the Little Giants lead to 10-6.

Down 22-8 with 13:13 remaining in the first half, Hiram went on a run to cut it back to single digits after an Oliver Clingain layup making it 26-17 with 10:33 remaining.

Hiram once again cut the lead back down, this time all the way down to a one-possession game. Gordon converted on an and-one opportunity making the score 37-34 with under four minutes left in the half.

The Little Giants closed out the half on a scoring run, however, going into the locker room up 46-35.

Wabash started the second half the way they ended the first-half scoring in bunches right out of the gate. After a three-pointer by Kellen Schreiber, the home team took a 55-37 lead.

A three by Kevin Beans Jr. cut the lead to 13, but the Wabash double-digit lead held strong.

Joe Ayo made a jumper and layup late in the second half, followed by a pair of made free throws by Max Johnson.

Wabash held on for the victory by a final score of 103-83.

Gordon was the leader in scoring for the Terriers with 19 points. Kevin Beans Jr. added 15, with Doug Sartain finishing with 14. Oliver Clingain nearly recorded a double-double with nine points and eight rebounds.

Hiram moves to 8-13 on the campaign and 5-9 in conference play as the regular season nears its conclusion.

Four games remain in the regular season for the Terriers. NCAC play continues on with the team next hitting the court on Wednesday, Feb. 5 vs. Denison with tip-off at 8 p.m. inside Price Gymnasium.
