LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – February 13, 2022 – Hiram women's wrestling competed in their final event of the season at the Lock Haven Duals taking on Lock Haven, Sacred Heart and East Stroudsburg.
MATCH 1: Lock Haven 25, Hiram 15
Wrestling at 109 lbs.,
Kylee Bentley pinned Alayna Gil at the 2:17 mark, winning 5-0. At 130 lbs., Lily Sherer pinned
Bethany Smith at 1:11.
Kinora Hayes and
JoRee Ybarra picked up wins on forfeits wrestling at 170 and 191 lbs. respectively.
MATCH 2: Sacred Heart 26, Hiram 9
Kicking off the second match, Bentley won by forfeit at 109 lbs. Smith claimed a victory, tech falling Ayeska Zanetti at 4:26 in the 130 lbs. class
Hayes and Ybarra were both pinned to close out the match. Jacklyn Smith pinned Hayes at 47 seconds and Ashley Reid put up the same result at 49 seconds.
MATCH 3: East Stroudsburg 39, Hiram 6
In the final match of the day, Bentley pinned Janieliz Cotto at 109 lbs. At 130 lbs., Mia Macaluso pinned Smith at 44 seconds.
Wrestling at 170 lbs., Bri Simsic tech falled Hayes at 2:31 by a score of 12-1. At 191 lbs., Shola Cascan pinned Ybarra at 2:48.
Hiram competed in two exhibition matches during the event. Alanna Barberio of East Stroudsburg tech falled Smith with a score of 12-1 at 4:17. Bentley tech falled Madison Packer of Lock Haven by a score of 10-0 at the 2:57 mark.
Hiram has now concluded the regular season. The team competes in the National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championship Regional event in Erie, Pa. on Sunday, Feb. 20 starting at 9 a.m.
