Terriers Score First 42 Points; Overwhelm Hilbert, 59-27

Malcolm Rogers Sets Hiram Single Season Rushing Total

Hiram, OH - November 5, 2022  --  The Hiram College Football team honored its seniors this afternoon with an offensive outburst that led to the first 42 points of the game in a 59-27 rout of Hilbert.  Senior running back Malcolm Rogers only touched the ball eight times but raced for 158 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Terriers' attack.  Rogers has amasses 1,137 rushing yards this season, breaking the record of 1,107 yards set by Danny Robinson in 2017.

Hiram wasted little time in scoring on the opening possession on a 42-yard pass play from freshman QB Sean Tejeda to Trystan Mollohan.  Rogers then scored on runs of 19, 36 and 80 yards along with a 9-yards TD reception from Tejeda to Anthony Sessi and a 27-yard pass play to Jarius Green.

For all practical purposes, the game was decided in the first quarter with a 35-0 lead.   The final score in the first half came on a 22-yard pass from Tejeda to senior Raquan Davis-Hereford making the score 49-7 at halftime.  In the first half, Hiram rushed for 218 yards and threw for another 172 for 390 yards of offense in the first half while holding Hilbert to -24 yards rushing and 94 total yards at the intermission.

The Terriers added 10 points in the third quarter on a booming 50-yard field goal from Chris Miller and a 56-yard pass play from senior Xavier Reyero to freshman Mario Wright, Jr.

For the game, the Terriers posted 516 total yards to 398 for Hilbert (29 rushing and 369 passing).

While Rogers gained most of the yards on the ground, seven different receivers gained yardage through the air.  Senior Moe Yarbrough paced the receiving corps with three catches for 22 yards.

Hiram will close out the season next Saturday at Ohio Wesleyan.
