HIRAM, Ohio - November 12, 2022 - Both of Hiram's swimming teams closed out November on a positive note, with the men winning 141-43 and the women winning 123-57 over Bethany (West Virginia) at Alumni Memorial Pool. The men regained their winning record (3-2), while the women improved to 2-4 with their first home win of the season.
The men's 400-meter medley relay team of Jon Hybil, Adam Ellis, Dayne Sauter and Owen Pastorius got the day started with a 4:41.56 mark, over 17 seconds faster than the opposition.
That group was just as successful in the individual events.
Hybil would later post the top time in the 200-meter freestyle (2:33.68), while Sauter won the 50-meter backstroke (30.76) and 200-meter IM (2:37.59). Pastorius took first place in the 100-meter backstroke (1:13.05) and 400-meter freestyle (4:52.98). Ellis found his way to the front of the 50-meter butterfly (30.44).
Also fueling the men's scoring was Gabe Farthing in the 100-meter butterfly (1:10.80), Nathan Ratynski in the 50-meter freestyle (28.51) and Drew Hostetler in the 100-meter freestyle (1:05.67). The Terriers capped off the afternoon with a win in the 200-meter freestyle relay (1:47.52), which included the team of Hybil, Pastorius, Sauter and Ratynski.
On the women's side, Elena Rinaldi posted a time of 1:18.40 as the lone participant in the 100-meter butterfly. She also was part of the winning teams in the 400-meter medley relay (5:39.25) and 200-meter freestyle relay (2:09.52).
Natalie Brown took down both of the freestyle events with a mark of 32.48 in the 50-meter race and 1:10.52 in the 100-meter race. Lilly MacDonald had a successful day with wins in the 50-meter butterfly (36.93) and 100-meter breaststroke (1:34.08) before Grace Basham wrapped up the individual events with a win in the 200-meter IM (3:34.65).
