Box Score Hiram, OH -- October 15, 2022 -- The Women's Volleyball team turned in a convincing straight-set victory over Wooster in Hiram's Price Gym on Saturday afternoon, 25-20, 25-21, 25-11..
Wooster started out on fire, grabbing a quick 7-0 lead, but the Terriers scrambled back to within four at 12-8 and ultimately tied the score at 19-19. Hiram went on to win six of the last seven points in a 25-20 win. The Terriers have been resilient in comeback victories this year, but today marked the first time that they rallied from a seven-point deficit to win a set.
The second set started like the first set ended, with Hiram taking a 4-0 advantage. But Wooster rallied and the set was close the rest of the way with ties at 6, 11, 13, 15, 16, 17 and 20. Following form from the first set, the Terriers earned five of the last six points in 25-21 success.
The third set was all Hiram, with the Terriers opening a 14-4 lead and never looking back. Hiram led by as many as 15 points at 23-8 before settling for a 25-11 domination.
Hiram's 29 kill shots were spread among seven Terriers with sophomore middle
Emily Richardson leading the way with seven kills. Junior outside hitter Maddie Burns added six more, with sophomore outside
Andrya Hanmore chipping in with five. Sophomore middle
Cate Maguire produced four kills while hitting .364 (4-of-11) and freshman outside
Brooke Norris notched four kills while hitting a match-high.400 (4-of-10).
Freshman setter Brooks Fishback assisted on 11 attacks and sophomore setter
Mary Landis added 10 more. Junior libero Kenzie Brannon dug up 13 shots.
The win snaps a two-match skid. The Terriers now stand at 11-9; 2-2 in the NCAC.
Hiram will travel to Oberlin on Wednesday, Oct. 19 in another NCAC match-up.
